The Planet WAP-4060PE:
A Multi-Function, 802.11b/g Radio Unit Offering a Unique Feature Set
Connect802 is pleased to bring the Planet WAP-4060PE to the U.S. market. Well known in Europe and Asia, this full-featured, commercial-grade radio is just beginning to become popular in enterprise and industrial applications in the United States. You'll see why when you see the feature set! With full support for built-in Power-over-Ethernet, multiple security policies, multiple SSID broadcasts and VLAN mapping - you would have to pay more than three times the price to get the same features set in any other vendor's product. Connect802 stands behind every unit with full service and support.
The Planet WAP-4060PE Provides Enterprise-Class Features at a Very Attractive Price-Point
Configuration as a Access Point
The WAP-4060PE operates as an 802.11b/g Access Point and offers the ability to be configured to advertise up to four different SSIDs (network names), each with different security policies. Your trusted users could enjoy secure WPA or 802.1x authentication and encryption while visitors and guests could connect to a completely open wireless LAN for Internet access; plus Voice-over-IP users could connect through the VoIP PBX for telephony - all through a single, Multiple-SSID unit.
Configuration as an AP Client
Wired users, connected to a standard Ethernet switch/hub, are connected into the existing WLAN network, even though they don't use a wireless connection directly. The WAP-4060PE acts like a single client device, connecting to your existing wireless LAN, and providing Ethernet connectivity. This is a great way to integrate existing desktop PCs into the security and management umbrella of the wireless LAN.
Configuration as a Wireless Bridge
When multiple buildings (less than 500 feet apart) need to be connected, the WAP-4060PE can be configured to act as a point-to-point or point-to-multipoint bridge and it can simultaneously act as a standard 802.11b/g access point. While this is not a high performance solution (expect 256 Kbps to 1 Mbps throughput on bridge links) it can be a very cost effective way to extend remote access to outbuildings and other areas at your site.
Configuration as a Repeater
Are you on the edge of a connectivity zone and you need to extend coverage, but you can't run cables to install an additional Access Point? When the WAP-4060PE is configured as a Repeater it extends the range of an existing Access Point by retransmitting packets. The WAP-4060PE automatically discovers all Access Points in range, and you simply select the one you want repeated by using a web-based selection menu.
Power-over-Ethernet
The WAP-4060PE is IEEE 802.3af compliant which means that it can receive power (up to 328 feet away) over the standard Ethernet cable used to connect it to your wired network. When configured as a repeater, the standard Ethernet cable provides power, but is not connected to any wired Ethernet hub or switch. It's just an easy way to run power to the unit without requiring that an AC outlet be nearby.
100 mW or 200 mW Radiated Power
The 18 dBm output power of the WAP-4060PE radio, combined with the standard 2.15 dBi dipole antenna, provides a full 100 mW radated power. When an optional 5 dBi antenna is used, the effective output power rises to 200 mW, and the ability to receive any client's signal is doubled.
Download the Manual
To fully appreciate the depth of capabilities offered by the WAP-4060PE, you're encouraged to download the installation and user's manual and study the details for yourself. We think you'll agree, this is a piece of equipment that's unique in the marketplace. The WAP-4060PE has capabilities that are typically not available until you're spending over $500.00 for a single access point.

Planet Networking & Communication is ranked by Forbes magazine as one of the 200 best companies with under 1 Billion in annual revenues. The Planet line of access points, wireless broadband routers, Ethernet switches and Power-over-Ethernet, and other network equipment is perhaps better known in Europe and Asia, where it competes strongly with enterprise equipment from Linksys, D-Link, and NetGear. Connect802 has tested and certified the Planet equipment as being an excellent choice for unique applications.
Established in 1993, PLANET was founded by a group of computer engineers from Wang Laboratories. Combing the energy and drive of a start-up with the strength of a sophisticated experience in world-class computer science enterprises, PLANET concentrates on developing end-to-end networking solutions for small to medium- sized enterprises. PLANET is also dedicated to supply a variety of applications at Education, Finance, Health Care and Government demands. Fulfilling its first milestone, PLANET has been officially listed on Taiwan's over the Counter Stock Exchange Market with trade code 6263 in September 2003, and keeps fast pace at pursuing IP technology innovations and leading position in global networking equipment market all the time.
WAP-4060 is an IEEE 802.11g Wireless Access Point. IEEE 802.11g uses 2.4GHz frequency band, the same as IEEE 802.11b; but it provides almost 5 times throughput rate than 802.11b. With the latest innovative Super G technology integrated, the maximum data rate of WAP-4060 is 108Mbps, which doubles the speed of standard 802.11g. WAP-4060 is also backward compatible and interoperable with IEEE 802.11b compliant wireless devices. Except for 64/128bit WEP encryption, WAP-4060 also integrates WPA (Wi-Fi Protected Access) and 802.1x authentication. Cooperating with a RADIUS server can make your wireless LAN more secure then ever. Provided with one reversed-polarity SMA male connector, WAP-4060 is easy to connect external antenna and booster to extend the wireless distance.
Five operational modes including AP, AP Client, Bridge, Multiple Bridge, and Repeater widen the usage of WAP-4060. Being a standard Wireless AP, WAP-4060 together with any other wireless access points provides the seamless integration between Ethernet network and Wireless network and also offers the roaming for all the Wireless mobile devices. AP client mode turns Ethernet devices into a wireless client. As switching to wireless bridging operation mode, having two or more LANs in different buildings connected is no more need to through physical and costly wires, WAP-4060 installed in these buildings soon provides 54Mbps transfer rate 24/7 without any additional costs. The repeater mode makes WAP-4060 acting as a wireless AP and bridge at the same time, which facilitates user to build up a large wireless network.
