Access Points
MiLAN 802.11
rugged, business-class wireless network
access points offer mature security
technologies that are part of Connect802's EZ
Suite Shield™ security.
Management software is intuitive, and
the wide range of antenna options lets
these Wi-Fi access points work exceptionally
well in a variety of challenging installations.
Ethernet Switches,
and Power-over-Ethernet, for the Wi-Fi
In-Building Infrastructure
Standard 802.3 wired Ethernet is the
typical Wi-Fi distribution system Ethernet
infrastructure. Ethernet switches for
Wi-Fi network topology extension don't
need the advanced, sophisticated features
found on core Ethernet switches in an
Enterprise data center. Ethernet switches
for Wi-Fi networks need to extend the
Ethernet network an allow attachment
of the Wi-Fi access points. That's what
these commercial grade Ethernet switches
do, and they're available as fully managed
units as well as simple unmanaged switches.
Who Is MiLAN Technologies?
MiLAN is a division of Communications
Systems, Inc. (AMEX: JCS), a multi-national
electronics design, manufacturing, and
distribution company. You can be confident
that equipment from MiLAN is well designed,
properly certified, and fully supported
by both MiLAN and Connect802. A detailed
discussion of the MiLAN organization
and their Communications Systems, Inc.
parent company is available.
This is a business
class, commercial grade Wi-Fi access point.
The clean design and plenum-rated metal housing
make the AccessG an ideal solution for business
environments, warehouses, and public locations.
With full support for Connect802's EZ Suite
Shield™ security
requirements, the MiLAN ShAir Access
G wireless network access point will provide
consistent, secure, reliable service in your
wireless network. The AccessG has built-in
support for use in point-to-point and point-to-multipoint
links between buildings or other locations
as part of a wireless
distribution system. Read the list of ShAir AccessG
Product Specifications.
Remotely Managed and Unmanaged Ethernet Switches
When you build out
your wireless network infrastructure you're
going to need switches to interconnect the
wired access points. MiLAN Technology Ethernet
switches are available with as few as 5 ports,
and as many as 24, and the product line is
flexible enough to provide 10/100 Ethernet,
Gigabit Fiber and Copper, and 100 Mbps fiber
connectivity in both managed and unmanaged
switches. To get this type of connectivity,
capacity, and configurability you would typically
have to look at high-end switches costing significantly
more. MiLAN's experience with media conversion
technology has blended with Connect802's demand
for a cost-effective, managed switch
to form the core of an access point infrastructure.
The MiLAN ShAir Bridge
802.11 Range Extender
Designed specifically
to serve as a Wi-Fi wireless bridge, the MiLAN
ShAir Bridge can be used indoors or
outdoors (with a weatherproof enclosure) to
extend the range of your Wi-Fi wireless network.
The unit can be configured to accept client
connections as well. No Ethernet data connection
is required and the unit can be configured
with a USB interface to the internal management
software. The 14 dBm power output results in
an effective transmit power (EIRP) of between
16 dBm up to the FCC legal limit of 34 dBm,
depending on the antenna used.
6-Port Power-Over-Ethernet
(POE) Injector
This unmanaged 802.3af compliant Power-over-Ethernet
injector is a cost-effective way to avoid having
to run 110v power circuits to each access point
(or to be forced to locate access points near
existing power outlets and then dealing with
the power "brick" plugged into the wall.) The
auto-sensing capability protects accidental
damage if a non-PoE device (like a notebook
computer) were inadvertently plugged into the
powered Cat 5 or Cat 6 cable. Single port injectors
and power splitters are also available.
Indoor 8" 4dBi
Omnidirectional Antenna
Standing just slightly
taller than the length of a pencil (8-inches
from bottom of base to tip) this MiLAN model
802.11b/g antenna can be a free-standing portable
antenna accessory to your notebook computer,
or it can be ceiling or wall mounted. The coverage
pattern is circular, with a 40-degree beamwidth
and this antenna is ideally suited to ceiling
mounting in the center of a large open indoor
area (like a cubicle office space.) You'll
more than double the reception capability and
output power with this antenna. The unit ships
with the permanently attached stand/mount and
with a conversion adapter for connection to
any of the MiLAN family of radios
PCMCIA Wi-Fi Adapters
with Flip-Up Antennas
The MiLAN PCMCIA Wi-Fi
adapter allows those notebook computers that
do not have built-in Wi-Fi radios to effortlessly
attach to your WLAN. The flip-up antennas (shown
on the right) provide significantly better
signal reception and transmission than the
typical flat (horizontally polarized) PCMCIA
antenna stubs.
Additional Antenna
Options and External USB Wi-Fi Adapters
The ShAir Bridge
Antennas provide extended wireless networking
access to the local area network for remote
locations without the expense of T1, Fiber
or difficult wiring tasks. MiLAN offers a wide
range of antennas specifically designed to
compliment the MiLAN access points and bridges
to meet your distance requirements and wireless
topologies.
